Guneet Chadha is a Partner at Dhir & Dhir Associates and a corporate and transactional lawyer with over 12 years of experience advising leading Indian and international corporations, financial institutions, private equity and venture capital investors, promoters, founders and family-owned businesses on complex domestic and cross-border matters.
Guneet advises across the entire spectrum of corporate and transactional work, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and complex commercial arrangements. His practice also encompasses general corporate advisory, media and entertainment and sports law, where he works with businesses, investors and emerging sporting properties on legal, commercial and strategic matters.
Over the course of his career, Guneet has advised several prominent Indian and international institutions and businesses, including amongst others, Larsen & Toubro Limited, L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited, Axis Bank Limited, The Walt Disney Company, Urban Company, Mukand Limited, Annapurna Finance Private Limited and Astral SteriTech Private Limited, as well as entities affiliated with the Carlyle Group and the Temasek group.
His experience spans an unusually broad range of industries, including IT and IT-enabled services, artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, semiconductors, banking and financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and engineering, conventional and green energy, manufacturing, consumer businesses, media and entertainment, sports, aviation, hospitality and real estate. The breadth of this experience has given him a nuanced understanding of how businesses operate across sectors and, equally importantly, how legal considerations interact with commercial imperatives, capital, risk and execution.
Guneet’s approach to practice is defined by legal precision, commercial judgment and strategic perspective. He looks beyond the immediate legal question to understand the broader business objective, the economics of the transaction and the practical considerations that ultimately determine an outcome. This enables him to combine the discipline and rigour expected of external counsel with the pragmatism, ownership and strategic outlook of a business partner.
He is particularly focused on distinguishing what is material from what is peripheral, anticipating issues before they become impediments and developing solutions that protect the client’s position without losing sight of the larger commercial objective. He brings technical depth, commercial sensitivity and a strong execution focus to his mandates, particularly where legal complexity intersects with critical business decisions.
Prior to joining Dhir & Dhir Associates, Guneet worked with several of India’s leading law firms, including AZB & Partners, J. Sagar Associates, Trilegal and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. He has also served as a Senior Legal Consultant with Larsen & Toubro Limited, where he worked closely with senior management on strategic transactions and complex commercial matters. This combination of top-tier private practice and in-house experience has given him the ability to view legal issues from both sides of the advisory relationship, as counsel responsible for protecting the client’s interests and as a business stakeholder focused on achieving the underlying commercial objective.
Guneet is also invited to speak at professional and industry forums, where he shares perspectives informed by his experience across corporate transactions, business strategy and evolving areas of law and commerce.
Beyond his professional practice, Guneet believes that the privilege of practising law carries with it a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the wider community. He devotes time to pro bono legal work and has advised a number of non-governmental and not-for-profit organisations. For him, such work reflects a broader commitment to applying his professional experience in support of institutions and initiatives that seek to advance individual and societal wellbeing.
Outside the law, Guneet is an avid traveller and reader with a deep interest in India’s spiritual, historical and cultural heritage. He particularly enjoys travelling across the country to explore its temples, traditions and sacred sites, and spends his spare time researching and reading about India’s rich spiritual and cultural history.
